FBC Raton has a number of ministries to serve our members and our local community.
The Children’s Ministry at FBC Raton exists to teach children about the love of God and His salvation through Jesus Christ. We also want to assist parents in training up their children in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6). We do this through the following ministries:
Kids in grades pre-k through 6th grade meet on the second floor to learn about God, His Word, and His ways. Simple Bible lessons are taught within the context of playing, music, crafts, and snacks, with an emphasis on applying Gods word in a practical way to the children’s lives. Learning how to pray for each other, our families, and our community is also an important part of our time together.
The nursery is also available during this time for little ones age 0-3.
AWANA – Wednesdays at 5:30pm (September – May)
The purpose of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. This is done primarily through Scripture memorization in a fun, yet challenging way, all while studying God’s Word, playing games, and learning to live in harmony with others. All the following age groups are welcome:
⦁ Cubbies: 3 & 4 years old
⦁ Sparkes: Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades
⦁ T & T (Truth & Training): 3rd – 6th grades
The youth at FBC Raton have a close-knit relationship with one another and a growing relationship with Jesus. Our job is to encourage and develop these relationships and to give each student the ability to share and defend what they believe.
Sunday School – 9:30 am
Sunday mornings at 9:30 we gather to study the Word of God and to pray. The 7th-8th graders have their own class led by Myra, while the 9th-12th graders meet in the youth room with Grant and Lisa. Both classrooms are on the third floor of our church building.
Youth Night (6th-12th graders)
From 5:30-7:30 on Wednesday evenings we all get together in the youth room for devotions and fellowship.
About once a month we try to organize a small event for our students that is both fun and spiritually profitable. To stay in the loop regarding youth happenings just reach out to our youth director Grant Robertson at (575) 707-3639.
We strive to help new and mature Christians to grow into victorious, Spirit-filled Christians and to become active members of First Baptist Church Raton. We focus on God’s word and encourage you to develop a daily bible reading program to help you discover how to deal with the everyday struggles that come into your life and to discipline yourself so you don’t fall back into bad habits.

Wednesday Night Supper & Study – 5:00 pm
We have a fellowship dinner every Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm in our fellowship hall. All are invited to come. After the dinner we meet in the sanctuary for Bible study with our pastor Nathan Ramirez
Small Group Studies
We have small groups that meet at the church or in our members’ homes at various times throughout the week. Some studies walk through books of the Bible while others focus on specific topics. Contact Nathan (713) 306-0374 or Rich (575) 707-0445 to get plugged in.
The goal of our ministry is simple: to make Christ known here in Raton and to the ends of the Earth. This means that gospel proclamation will always be at the core of what we do. Our primary objective is to equip our members to share Jesus and His love in the course of their daily lives.
Evangelism & Missions
Each month we get together for door-to-door or some other type of local evangelism, and every year we offer at least one opportunity to spread the gospel outside of our town through short-term missions.
Our mission is to show the love of Christ by assisting those who are in a financial crisis. We hope to ease their earthly burdens and help them focus on their eternal future.
Hungry Hearts – Saturday’s at Noon
Our mission is to join with other churches in the city to give a free meal to whoever shows up. Our church serves on the third Saturday of each month at the old Catholic school on 4th and Apache @ noon.
Bridge to Hope
The goal of Bridge to Hope is to help people change their lives by developing their relationships with Christ, themselves, others and work. We come alongside hurting individuals to offer encouragement, biblical counsel, practical strategies and other forms of support so that they can discover and live out their God-given purpose.
